You will learn how to navigate the campaign creation process, select the appropriate options, and prepare the system for CSV upload and field mapping. The process ensures your campaign is set up for personalized outreach using your own contact data.

Prerequisites

  • You must have a CSV file prepared with at least the required columns: First Name and either Email or LinkedIn Profile URL.
  • For best results, include recommended columns such as Job Title, Company, Industry, and Notes to enhance personalization.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Access the Campaigns Dashboard

  • From the main navigation menu, click Campaigns to open the Campaigns dashboard.

  • On the dashboard, locate and click the Create Campaign button on the left side.

  • A modal window titled SELECT PLAY appears, showing campaign template options.

2. Select the Custom Campaign Template

  • In the SELECT PLAY modal, scroll to the ADVANCED section.

  • Click the Custom option, described as “Manually configure all campaign settings for advanced users who need specific customization options.”

  • The SELECT AUDIENCE SOURCE modal appears, prompting you to choose how to source contacts for your campaign.

3. Choose “Upload a CSV” as Audience Source

  • In the SELECT AUDIENCE SOURCE modal, click the Upload a CSV option.

Expected Outcome:

  • The Upload a CSV option is selected. The Continue button becomes active.

4. Proceed to the CSV Upload Interface

  • Click the Continue button at the bottom right of the modal.

  • You are taken to the IMPORT CONTACTS FROM CSV screen, where you can upload your CSV file and map its columns.
  • At the top of the IMPORT CONTACTS FROM CSV section, review the reminder:
    • Required: First Name and either Email or LinkedIn Profile URL
    • Recommended: Job Title, Company, Industry, Notes, and other relevant information for improved personalization

6. Initiate CSV Upload

  • In the Upload CSV area, click the box labeled Upload CSV (“Click to upload or Drag and Drop”) to open the file picker, or drag and drop your CSV file into this area.

  • The system will prompt you to select a CSV file from your computer. After selection, the file will be uploaded and the column mapping section will become active.

7. Map CSV Columns to Alice Fields

  • Once your CSV is uploaded, use the dropdown menus in the MAP CSV section to map each column from your CSV to the corresponding Alice field.

    • Personal Details: Map First Name (required), Last Name, Job Title, Company Name, Company Website
    • Contact Information: Map at least one of Email or LinkedIn Profile URL (required)
  • Ensure all required fields are mapped. Map any additional columns you want to use for personalization.

  • The mapping interface displays all available fields. A preview of your audience will appear on the right after successful upload and mapping.

8. Proceed to Next Steps

  • After mapping all required and desired fields, click the Next button in the upper right to continue with campaign setup (e.g., research, messaging, and settings).

  • You advance to the next stage of campaign creation, with your audience successfully imported and mapped.

Troubleshooting

  • Missing Required Fields:
    • If you do not map First Name and at least one of Email or LinkedIn Profile URL, the system will not allow you to proceed. Double-check your CSV and mappings.
  • File Upload Issues:
    • Ensure your CSV is properly formatted and does not contain unsupported characters or corrupt data.
    • If the upload fails, try saving your CSV again or removing any special formatting.
  • Incorrect Field Mapping:
    • If your data does not appear as expected in the preview, review your column mappings and adjust as needed.
  • No Audience Preview:
    • If the preview does not appear after upload, verify that all required fields are mapped and the CSV contains valid data.

Success Criteria and Verification

  • You have reached the campaign setup screen with your audience preview visible.
  • All required fields are mapped, and the Next button is enabled.
  • You can proceed to configure the rest of your campaign (research, messaging, settings) with your uploaded audience.
