How to Create a New Space in the Knowledge Base

Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for creating a new space in the Knowledge Base. By following these steps, you will be able to add a new organizational area (“space”) to help categorize and manage your resources. The process includes naming the space, selecting a color indicator, and verifying successful creation.

Prerequisites

  • You must have permission to create spaces in the Knowledge Base.
  • Ensure you are on the main dashboard or any page where the left navigation menu is visible.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to the Knowledge Base

    • In the left-hand navigation menu, locate and click on “Knowledge Base”. This will take you to the Knowledge Base section where you can view and manage spaces and resources.

  2. Open the New Space Dialog

    • In the upper-right corner of the Knowledge Base view, click the “New space” button. This opens a dialog for creating a new space.

  3. Enter the Space Name

    • In the “Create a space” dialog, click in the Name field.
    • Type the desired name for your new space (e.g., “Demo Space”).

  4. Select a Color Indicator

    • Under Color indicator, click one of the colored circles to choose a color for your space. The selected color will be used as a visual identifier in the sidebar.

  5. Save the New Space

    • Click the Save button in the bottom-right corner of the dialog to create your new space.

  6. Verify the New Space Appears

    • After saving, check the left sidebar to confirm that your new space appears with the chosen name and color indicator. In this example, “Demo Space” appears with an orange color indicator.
    • If the new space does not appear immediately, try refreshing the page and check again.

Troubleshooting

  • New space does not appear:
    • Refresh the page and check the sidebar again.
    • Ensure you have completed all required fields (name and color) before saving.
  • Error messages:
    • If you receive an error when saving, review the dialog for any missing or invalid information.
    • If the issue persists, contact your system administrator or support team.

Success Criteria

  • The new space appears in the left sidebar of the Knowledge Base with the name and color you selected.
  • You can now click the new space to begin adding resources or managing its content.
